Echocardiography

Echocardiography is a test using sound waves to collect information about heart structure and function. The test provides valuable information on the size of the heart, the valves, the four chambers, the wall motion, the pressures in the heart, the aorta above the heart and the pericardium, or lining around the heart.

The picture on the left below shows an echo exam being performed.

The picture on the right is an example of color flow across the aortic valve.
