7/30/01- Dr. Wright Interviewed on Channel 8
Fox Morning News
This morning Dr. Wright discussed tips for lowering blood pressure.
He stressed the important distinction between optimal systolic blood
pressure below 120, normal systolic blood pressure from 120 to 130,
high normal from 130 to 140, and high blood pressure, over 140.
In keeping with the LifeScore® philosophy of taking a proactive
approach to health, people with systolic blood pressures above 120
need to start taking action to prevent the eventual appearance of
high blood pressure. But since it can take years or decades
to progress, there is plenty of time to use lifestyle changes instead
of medications.

The story appeared on the evening news. Dr. Wright drew attention

2/23/01- Yet Another Validation
for Electron Beam Tomography
The
cardiology division of Johns Hopkins Medical Center, the number one
rated hospital in the country, (US News & World Report), has announced
the opening of its EBT center for the early detection of heart disease.
Roger
S. Blumenthal, M.D., Director of Hopkins' Ciccarone Center for the
Prevention of Heart Disease stated: Traditional stress tests
on a treadmill only pick up heart arteries that are at least 60 percent
obstructed by plaque, when angioplasty or bypass may be imminent.
EBT can detect plaque in its earliest stages, when lifestyle
factors like changes in diet, more aerobic exercise and use of medications
to optimize cholesterol and blood pressure levels may be enough to
prevent further spread of the disease.
