10/15/02 - EBT powerfully predicts coronary
events rates in the South Bay Heart Watch Study. Circulation,
the Journal of the American Heart Association, published results of
a study of 1,461 subjects followed for 6.4 years. Coronary calcium
score was the best predictor of future risk in non-diabetics. The
score was more powerful at predicting heart attack or death than age,
smoking, blood pressure, weight, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol
or CRP. Click

9/22/02 - Dr. Wright presents study on carotid
artery calcium at the 2002 EBT International Symposium in New Orleans.
The LifeScore Clinic is the first to analyze carotid artery calcium
data on thousands of patients. The study presents age-gender distributions
on carotid artery calcium for age groups from under 40 to over 75.
The data demonstrates the relationship between age and carotid plaque
development. It also analyzes differences between men and women. Dr.
Wright also did a comparison between carotid calcium quantities and
stroke rates for Americans. His findings indicate an almost perfect
correlation between plaque quantity and stroke rates. Click

8/27/02 - A new study in Circulation, the
Journal of the American Heart Association, shows that EBT

Cardiology has an article demonstrating that high coronary calcium
scores are the most powerful predictor of future cardiac events yet
found. Please see the summary in our research

7/30/01- Dr. Wright Interviewed on Channel
8 Fox Morning News
This morning Dr. Wright discussed tips for lowering blood pressure.
He stressed the important distinction between optimal systolic blood
pressure below 120, normal systolic blood pressure from 120 to 130,
high normal from 130 to 140, and high blood pressure, over 140.
In keeping with the LifeScore® philosophy of taking a proactive
approach to health, people with systolic blood pressures above 120
need to start taking action to prevent the eventual appearance of
high blood pressure. But since it can take years or decades
to progress, there is plenty of time to use lifestyle changes instead
of medications.

7/2/01- Dr. Wright Appears on the Evening
Channel 8 News
Holly Hanson, Healthcast producer for KFMB
TV 8, interviewed Dr. Wright about Dick Cheney's newly implanted defibrillator.
The story appeared on the evening news. Dr. Wright drew attention
to the fact that the particular problem Mr. Cheney has, potentially
dangerous rapid heart rates, is caused by the damaged muscle from
his prior heart attacks. LifeScore® can identify the underlying
cause of heart attacks, coronary plaque, years before symptoms appear.

2/23/01- Yet Another Validation
for Electron Beam Tomography
The cardiology division of Johns Hopkins
Medical Center, the number one rated hospital in the country, (US
News & World Report), has announced the opening of its EBT center
for the early detection of heart disease.
Roger S. Blumenthal, M.D., Director
of Hopkins' Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease stated:
Traditional stress tests on a treadmill only pick up heart arteries
that are at least 60 percent obstructed by plaque, when angioplasty
or bypass may be imminent. EBT can detect plaque in its earliest
stages, when lifestyle factors like changes in diet, more aerobic
exercise and use of medications to optimize cholesterol and blood
pressure levels may be enough to prevent further spread of the disease.

2/23/01- LifeScore® featured
on Channel 8 News
Graham Ledger, the news anchorman at
channel 8, visited LifeScore® on 2/22 to interview Dr. Wright
and a patient undergoing BoneScore, LifeScore®'s newest test,
which evaluates bone density, and establishes a person's risk for
developing osteoporosis. The segment stressed the importance
of detecting the condition early, to avoid risk for fractures, and
to initiate treatment with calcium and vitamin D, versus expensive
medical treatments, which are necessary when the condition is more
advanced.
